OPERATION AND ATTENDANCE MANUAL
PG 01-31
Preservation Valid for 1 Year
If even after this time, i.e. 6 months total, the APU will not be put into operation, it must be dismounted from the
airplane after performing a similar internal preservation as according to item 5. All its connections must be
immediately plugged. Coat the corrosion-prone metal surface component parts of APU (exhaust outlet, exhaust
cone, the rear end of the turbine) with preservative oil or grease. Pack them into paraffin paper and insert into PE
package. Add bags with dehumidifier in total weight of 1,6 kg and seal the PE package hermetically by welding.
Pack APU packaged in this way in a box protecting against damage and store in dry room with temperature in
the range of +5
+45 °
С
(+41
+113 °F) and maximum relative air humidity 65 %.
Do not store APU directly on the ground, in open-air area or in damp rooms.
The devices of the Fuel-Oil System are not dismounted from the airplane but filled with operating oil according
to Item 5.5.
Perform regular check of the surface of the devices once in 3 months to assure, whether they are not corroded.
Remove foreign matter and possible products of corrosion by a wiping cloth.
Preservation and Packing for Shipping Devices to the Manufacturer
When shipping APU devices to the Manufacturer for the purpose of repair, claim, check, etc., it is necessary to
perform preservation and packing, so that the devices were not damaged by corrosion or mechanically during the
transfer.
Perform preservation and packing similarly as it is described in item 5.5.
Note: Before to packing perform draining the oil from the oil tank.
Fix the device deposited in the original shipping container against movement by appropriate cushioning material
(polystyrene, plastic foam, rubber, etc.)
