Ignition System Inspection
Inspection is performed according to the following procedures:
(1)
Ignition Plug
(The description is related to Fig. 16)
Dismount the Interconnecting Conductor and screw off the ignition plug (1) from its casing (4) on the fuel
ramp (3).
Check the wear and tear of the points. An ignition plug must be discarded in the following cases:
a)
Parts of the ignition plug are cracked or mechanically damaged,
b)
The wear and tear of the points is bigger than Y=2mm, Z=8mm.
Screw a satisfactory ignition plug with a new washer (2) from the set of replacement parts into the casing (4),
lightly tighten to fit on using spanner and then tighten ignition plug using spanner for 20 ÷ 30
o
. Replace an
unsatisfactory ignition plug for a new one from the set of replacement parts.
Mount the cap nut of the connecting conductor to the ignition plug.
Secure both the ignition plug and the cap nut against loosening with binding wire.
NOTE:
The ignition plug does not require any maintenance during operation. It is prohibited to clean the surface of the
insulator between the points howsoever.
After arriving at 1000 starts or 150 hours of APU operation, it is necessary to replace the ignition plug according
to the given procedure:
(2)
Interconnecting Conductor
(The description is related to Fig. 17)
Remove the binding wire and screw off the cap nuts (1).
Remove the cable from the ignition plug and from the ignition device.
Check:
If the cable has not been mechanically damaged;
If there is no danger of disconnection or tearing out of wire strand of the Interconnecting conductor;
If the connecting conductor insulation is not damaged (namely at the ends of screening). A moderate
slackness of loops on the screening tubing is permissible.
If the rubber packing rings on both ends of the conductor are not damaged.
Use ohmmeter to check, if the connection of the conductor with the contact point (2) and the terminal
(3) is not electrically broken.
Any bad Interconnecting Conductor must be changed.
(3)
Ignition exciter – without maintenance.
