Checking Techniques
4.8.1.
Check of the Compressor Blades
Only one defect on one blade and two defects altogether for the whole compressor are permissible, when checking
the entering edge of compressor blades.
The depth of the defect must not be bigger than 0,5 mm and the defect length must not be bigger than quintuple of
the depth.
Visually inspect, whether there are no cracks on the compressor blades. In case of occurrence of any crack, it is
necessary to end operation and send the APU for perform of the complete analysis and overhaul.
4.8.2.
APU Function Check
Check of function is performed using the LUN 5265-8 Testing Case.
Note: Description of the work is given by Instructions for the operation and use of control device LUN 5265-8
which is parts of the Technical and operating manual of Control Box LUN 3594.04 - see Appendix No. 1
to this document.
Data on the number of starts and operating hours APU which are stored in the control box must be
periodically transferred to the
log-book of APU
4.8.3.
APU Inspection
Dismount the APU from the airplane, plug blind the disconnected piping and sockets.
The description relates to Fig. No.10.
Unlock and unscrew bolts (4) - (21 pcs) using spanner s7
Dismount the combustion chamber drainage valve (5) using spanner s17
Dismantle the fuel supply line (6) on the input to fuel drainage (7) using spanner s17
Screw three bolts (4) into the dismounting holes on the fuel ramp socket (8) and force it away
Remove the fuel ramp (8) with the combustion chamber (9) and spout (3);
Inspect the inside of the combustion chamber (9)
Unlock and loosen eight bolts (10) using spanner s8
Detach the combustion chamber (9)
Clean the internal area of the combustion chamber of carbon and deposits
Rinse the combustion chamber in petrol or trichloroethylene
Check the condition of the combustion chamber – in case of crack occurrence proceed according to Fig.No.11
The following types of cracks are permissible for continuing in operation:
(1)
At the most by 8 apertures and at the most 1 crack by one aperture. Max. length 10 mm.
(2)
At the most 3 cracks by 1 aperture and at the most by 20 apertures. Max. length 5mm. In case of danger of
interconnection of two apertures, take the combustion chamber out.
(3)
At the most by 15 apertures, at the most 3 apertures interconnected
(4)
At the most by 30 apertures, at the most 3 apertures interconnected
(5)
At the most 3 cracks (concerns the apertures for the ignition plug). Max. Length 10mm.
(6)
At the most 3 cracks to one aperture. Max. length 10mm.
Other cracks are not permissible for continuing in operation.
