Calibration
Calibration is the process of using one or two known val-
ues for a measurement as reference points. Xplorer
allows you to fine tune the accuracy of certain sensors by
calibrating. In most cases, calibration is not necessary to
obtain useful measurements with a PASPORT sensor.
Calibration is provided for those sensors where high accu-
racy is dependent on one or two specific reference mea-
surements made at the specific conditions at the time of
your experiment (such as atmospheric temperature, pres-
sure, and humidity).
To calibrate a sensor:
1. Press
until the calibrate display mode shows.
Xplorer displays the current unit for the calibration.
Note:
For sensors with two or more calibration units,
press plus or minus to cycle through and select the
desired unit.
2.
Press
. Xplorer displays a reference calibration
value. This is a value which you must know from
some source outside of Xplorer. (The value could
come from a label of a solution bottle, another type of
measuring device, or a table of reference values.)
3.
Place the sensor into the known solution, or in contact
with the known substance being measured.
4.
Use the plus, minus, and tab keys to edit the reference
