Situation Mode Setup
Use only as a fax
You have a separate telephone
line just for faxes, or you want to
use the unit only for receiving

Use with an answering machine
You want to use the unit with an
answering machine.

1. Connect an extension telephone answering
machine.
2. Set the ring count of the answering machine to
less than 3.
• Set the ring count in FAX ONLY mode of the
unit to more than 3, if you use with auto
answer ON.
Note
• For TEL mode and TEL/FAX mode ( ):
– Use with an extension telephone, if a handset unit is not supplied with your unit (page 19).
– The ringer volume setting should be ON.
• A4 or letter size recording paper is recommended.
• Received faxes may be stored in memory depending on the paper size settings. See feature #380 for
details.

8.6.1 FAX ONLY mode
How faxes are received
When receiving calls, the unit will automatically answer all calls and only receive fax documents.
How to change the ring count
You can change the number of rings in fax ring count setting (feature #210).
