Use

Operating the System While Driving

●

Stop the vehicle in a safe and open location,
and apply the parking brake before checking.

●

If you use the system for the first time, or if you
have not used it for some time, it may take
approximately 5 minutes (or approximately
2 minutes in open areas) to recognize GPS
signals. (

page 47)

The TMC unit uses FM radio waves to get the
traffic information. Make sure that FM radio
waves are being received (checking for FM
radio waves reception is described on page
25).

●

Check TMC reception (FM radio waves
reception) in an open area location.

●

operation. Repeat this procedure every time you want to operate the system while driving.

WARNING

A warning message is displayed when you attempt to operate the system
while driving. You can turn off this message if you wish.

Do not keep your eyes fixed on the monitor screen or operate the system while driving.

Do not change the settings and destination locations while driving. Minimize the time spent on
viewing the monitor screen and listening to the voice guidance while driving. Operating the system
will distract the driver from looking ahead of the vehicle and may cause an accident. Always stop
the vehicle in a safe location and use the parking brake before operating the system.
