The metallographic specimen preparation
of nickel-aluminum thermal spray coatings
is relatively straight forward. Microstructural
features of interest include: porosity, flow,
thickness and inclusions. Since these
materials can have inclusions and
particles, vibratory polishing with
NANOMETER alumina for several minutes
can significantly clean up any remaining
surface damage.
Sectioning:
MAXCUT Abrasive blade (Cat. No. MAX-E or MAX-I series)
(if required)
Mounting:
Compression Mounting fine EPOCOMP Epoxy compression mounting resins.
Polishing:
*Required for central polishing force
