7. Principle of operation
7.1 Power electronics
The UPS is connected to a wall socket with earth contact and
connects the mains to the loads connected to the UPS.
Under normal operating conditions (normal mode), the ZINTO
A is supplied with mains voltage from the wall socket. During
this process the power provided to the connected loads is
filtered and the battery monitored. The filtering provides effec-
tive protection against voltage fluctuations and voltage spikes.
This monitoring is performed by the rectifier with integrated
charging electronics, which if required also provides appropri-
ate trickle charging.
In case of mains undervoltage or mains overvoltage, the
automatic voltage regulation (Buck & Boost) provides addi-
tional stabilisation of the load voltage. In this way voltage fluc-
tuations on the mains are reduced to a level acceptable for the
loads. Use is not made of the internal battery for this process.

In case of mains failure, the changeover device is activated
and the combination of battery and inverter takes over the
uninterrupted supply of the power to the loads connected to
the UPS (battery mode). The ZINTO A supplies power until the
battery is discharged. To prevent an abrupt shutdown of the
