10.2.2 Battery inspection
The battery is the key component of the UPS system. The
battery has a limited expected service life, which is heavily
dependent on the ambient temperature and the number of
charging/discharging cycles. High ambient temperatures and
deep discharging will considerably shorten the expected ser-
vice life. To ensure maximum battery service life, the following
two rules should be followed:
1.) Maintain the ambient temperature at a constant 20°C.
2.) Avoid frequent, short discharging.
The batteries used are maintenance-free lead gel accumula-
tors. Intelligent battery management continuously monitors the
state of the batteries and automatically recharges them as
required.
To be able to detect the increasing, age-related loss of capac-
ity in good time, the power backup time should be measured
every six months.
This measurement can be performed manually or using the
DataWatch software supplied.
The measurement performed should be compared with a ref-
erence measurement or the information on the data sheet. If
there is a significant difference between the value measured
and the reference value, the battery system should be re-
placed. Please contact your dealer.
10.2.3 Fan inspection
The fans must be regularly checked for dust deposits and
unusual noises. Blocked openings are to be cleaned. Contact
your dealer if the fans run unevenly or produce unusual
noises.
10.3 Battery replacement
The ZINTO A series has a hot-swap battery. This means that
the battery can be replaced by the user while the system is in
operation. Replacement batteries are available from ONLINE
USV-Systeme AG directly or from any authorised dealer.
