Chapter 4 Basic operations
NOTE
•
When “ON” is selected in the “PRINT SCREEN” menu to record still images and a stereo
optical adapter is attached, two still images are recorded: one with the displayed date/time,
title, logo display, and measurement results and one without. Also, when recording a moving
image, the moving image and a still image are recorded with the date/time, title, logo display
as well as a still image without. If any optical adapter except a stereo optical adapter is
selected, only the still image with the date/time, title, logo display, and measurement results
is recorded. When a still image on which the date, title, etc., are overwritten is replayed, the
characters of time may be doubled. This is not a malfunction.
•
You can select from “SHQ”, “HIGH” or “STD” for optical adapters other than the stereo
adapter (TIFF cannot be selected). However, when stereo optical adapter is selected you can
select “HIGH” or “TIFF” (SHQ and STD cannot be selected).

Setup of the folder
The recorded images are saved in folder \DCIM\???IV7R1 on the recording card.
The question marks “???” in the folder name indicate the 3-digit folder number
from 100 to 999. The folder number is also displayed in the thumbnail screen or
retrieve screen. When an image is recorded on a recording card that does not
have a folder named \DCIM\???IV7R1, a folder named \DCIM\100IV7R1 is
created automatically on the card. If the image is recorded immediately after the
base unit is turned ON or the recording card is inserted, the image will be
recorded in the most recently created folder.
To change the folder or drive that images are recorded in, see “To change the
folder” (page 89) or “To change the drive” (page 89).
If you want to add or change the name of a folder on the memory card, see “Add/
rename/delete folder” (page 124).

Note on the filenames
a. A file named IV7I????.*** is created in the selected folder when an image is
recorded.
b. The “????” indicates a 4 digit serial number in the file name “IV7I????”. The
file number is a number between 0001 and 9999. When an image is
recorded, the filename is assigned a file number one larger than the file with
the largest file number already in the folder. For example, assuming that a
folder includes image files with file numbers IV7I0001 and IV7I0003,
recording an image creates a file named IV7I0004.
c. “***” is the extension of the filename. When an optical adapter other than the
stereo optical adapter is used, recording an image creates an image file with
extension .JPG. When the stereo optical adapter is selected in the menu,
recording an image creates an image file with extension .JPG or .TIF
depending on the file format settings.
When a still image with audio is recorded, an audio file with the same
filename as the image file but with extension .WAV will be created together
with the image file.
When a moving image is recorded, a moving image file with the same
filename as the image file but with extension .AVI will be created together
with the image file.
