7. TROUBLESHOOTING
Points to be considered and errors possibly occuring when performing measurements were already
discussed in the section 6.4. This chapter contains a troubleshooting guide for the CASY Cell Coun-
ter and Analyzer and the CASY excell Software. This chapter additionally contains a trouble shooting
guide for the CASY Cell Counter and Analyzer TT including step-by-step instructions for most fre-
quent error messages and answers to some frequently asked questions. Additional information can
be found on the website under
www.cellcounting.de
.
If you cannot solve the problem using these answers to frequently asked questions, contact your
OLS representative for troubleshooting assistance.
7.1 Error Messages
The CASY System permanently monitors all its system functions and reports error messages as soon
as a fault is detected:

Please shut off your CASY
For at least 5 seconds.
If error persists note the code
and contact Schärfe System
or your local distributor.

Generally, an
error code
consisting of two letters followed by a hyphen and a one or two figure
number is output such as for example:
PR-7
.
In special cases, a combination of up to 12 hexadecimal characters may be output, which are
arranged in 3 blocks separated by colons.
If you receive an error message, first try to switch off and then restart your CASY System. Errors can
sometimes be triggered by
power supply faults
. If no error message appears when you restart the
system, no further problems should occur. If the same error message appears during the self-test or
measuring operation, you should
note the error code
. You can also output the error message on
the connected printer by pressing
.
The following errors may be caused by
false handling
and can usually be easily cleared.
CM-1:
Check that the printer is correctly connected and switched on (see 6.7).
PR-7
Check that the selected capillary setting corresponds to the measuring capillary in use (see
below).
PR-8
Check that the storage container is full of CASY ton (see 6.4 and below).
Other error messages displayed with an error code are caused by internal faults of the system. If the
error message can not be cleared by the actions described below or is even not listed, please con-
tact service at OLS OMNI Life Science GmbH & Co. KG to clarify further procedure. The same applies
to the errors listed above, if they cannot be cleared by the actions described.
