Colour management in IPDS mode
Introduction
Use the PRISMAsync Settings Editor to set machine related settings, system level default settings
and colour settings.
Input profiles
For DeviceRGB and DeviceCMYK, the operator can specify which input profile must be used. The
input profile can be a normal input profile or "none". Device links are not supported.
The input profiles that are available in the data stream cannot be overruled in transaction mode.
Output profiles
Output profiles are handled via the media catalogue of PRISMAsync. An output profile can be
configured for each combination of media family and halftone.
Calibration of the combination of media family and halftone is done in the DP mode.
The user can select the render intent to be used for DeviceCMYK and DeviceRGB. The output
intent is the same for both DeviceCMYK and DeviceRGB.
When an output profile is available in the data stream, the output profile can be used or ignored.
The used output profile depends on the media family. In the Settings Editor, you can configure
the output profile for each media family.
Black preservation
When you use the setting "black preservation" the following two both apply:
• For both PDF files and IPDS data streams, the system is configured to print B/W when colours
are specified in RGB with R=G=B.
• For both PDF files and IPDS data streams, the system is configured to print B/W when colours
are specified in CMYK with C=M=Y.
The system can be configured to print B/W for PDF separation "All". If you want to have black it is
advised to let the application generate DeviceGray.
B/W printing
The system can be configured to print B/W only. You can configure the system via the set-up or
via the data stream.
