Making Hands-free Calls in the Car
You can operate (such as making or receiving voice calls) the FOMA terminal using hands-free compatible
devices by connecting the FOMA terminal to hands-free compatible devices such as the In-Car Hands-Free Kit
01 (optional) or a car navigation system.
For information on how to use the hands-free device, refer to the manual provided with the device. The FOMA
In-Car Hands-Free Cable 01 (optional) is required to use the In-Car Hands-Free Kit 01 (optional).
Receiving a Voice/Videophone Call

When you receive a voice/videophone call
The ring tone sounds and the incoming call lamp flashes. The “Ringing screen”/“Videophone ringing screen” appears.
The indicator display also notifies the incoming call by displaying the other party’s name, etc.

The Chaku-moji appears on the ringing screen/videophone ringing screen. You can also check the topic, etc.

To operate from the hands-free device, set the USB mode to “Communication mode”.
z
The display and ring tones used for incoming calls and mail are as specified in the FOMA terminal settings.
z
If the hands-free device is set to emit the sound from the hands-free device, the ring tone will still sound through the hands-free device
even when the FOMA terminal is set to Manner mode or the ring volume is set to “Silent”.
z
When the FOMA terminal is set to Public mode (Driving mode), operation for incoming calls and messages is as specified in the
“Public mode (Driving mode)” settings.
z
When the FOMA terminal is set to record caller messages, operation for incoming calls is as specified in the “Record message”
settings.
z
When you make a videophone call from a hands-free device using the phonebook or redial function, the connection speed is
determined by the hands-free device. If the connection speed is not set, “64K” is used.
z
If the hands-free device is set to emit the sound from the FOMA terminal, operation when the FOMA terminal is folded during a call is
as specified in “Setting when folded”. When the hands-free device is set to make sound, “Setting when folded” is ignored and folding
the FOMA terminal makes no difference to the call status.
