Exchanging the System Software

Upload Procedure

1. Power down the NAVITWIN IV.

2. In case of a console or console frame-mounted device, unmount the

NAVITWIN IV from the console and remove the back cover.
In case of a device in housing with bracket, unscrew the back cover
and remove the NAVITWIN IV insert from the housing.

3. Reconnect the 50-pin connector cable to the NAVITWIN IV but do not

yet power-up the device again.

4. If a flashboard is installed in the NAVITWIN IV, remove it before pro-

ceeding with the upload.
Should a flashboard remain installed during the upload, its contents
will be copied to the onboard flash memory when the system is
restarted, i.e. the newly uploaded software will immediately be over-
written by the old version stored on the flashboard.

5. You will have obtained an update file (hex file) from Sperry Marine.

Save this file at a convenient location on the computer, where it is
easily retrieved.

6. If SUSI is not running yet, start up the program now.

You will be prompted for a login PIN:

You may either enter the service
mode PIN (“20097”) or leave the
PIN empty (service mode access
is not required to upload the
software).

8. Click the

button at the

top left of the screen and in the
setup dialog which pops up,
check the “UpdateFlash Mode”
option.
Then, select the COM port to use
for connecting to the
NAVITWIN IV.
