Exchanging the System Software

24. From the option list, select “Sw. Update”.

The entire display will now be occupied by the “Maintenance Menu”
screen.

At the bottom of the screen, the version identifiers of the currently
installed software are shown:

–

“Program flash” refers to the software in the onboard memory,

–

“Update flash” refers to the software in the flashboard.

In case of an upgrade to a newer software, the version shown for the
program flash will be higher than for the update flash.

25. Press the

ACK

key to copy the software from the onboard memory to

the flashboard (“write update flash”).
A bargraph will be shown, indicating the progress of the flashboard
erase and write operations.

26. When the write operation is complete, the maintenance menu

screen reappears.
The reported software version for the update flash should now
match the one for the program flash.

27. Check the parameter settings in the User and Service Setup menus

and the entries in the magnetic compass heading calibration table.
Re-enter any settings which may not have been preserved.

Note

If the “EEPROM DATA INVALID” message was shown during the power-
up, all parameters settings will have been restored to factory settings.
The settings in the User and Service setups, the Manual settings and the
magnetic compass heading calibration table will have to be re-entered as
required for the given system.

28. Power down the NAVITWIN IV and disconnect the 50-pin plug con-

nector.

29. In case of a console or frame-mounted device, reattach the back

cover and mount the NAVITWIN IV in the console.
In case of a device in housing with bracket, insert the NAVITWIN IV
in the housing and screw on the back cover.
