Cylinder and Piston Removal

1. Use 2 wrenches to remove the coupler (Figure 4, item 1) from the motor

axle (66).

2. Remove the cylinder, piston, and connecting rod (55, 57, 68) from the

lower cylinder plate (74).

3. Place the cylinder on an even, padded surface, and press the piston and

connecting rod out of the cylinder.  Use a rubber mallet if necessary.

Piston Disassembly

1. Remove the O-ring and guide ring (56, 58) from the piston (57).
2. Clamp the piston in a bench vise with the motor axle (66) facing out.
3. Unscrew the motor axle from the piston plate with a wrench.  If the

motor axle cannot be turned, heat the connection to soften the

threadlock adhesive.

4. Remove the disc and O-ring (59, 60) from the piston plate.
5. Remove the connecting rod (55), stop bolt (64), spring washer (63),

spring (65), and guide (61) from the motor axle.

Lower Cylinder Plate Disassembly

1. Remove the O-ring (69) from the lower cylinder plate.
2. Use retaining ring pliers to remove the retaining ring (72) from the lower

cylinder plate.

3. Press the guide bushing (46) out of the lower cylinder plate from the

bottom, using the disassembled motor axle, if necessary.

Cleaning and Inspection

Clean all air valve and motor parts thoroughly.  Carefully inspect all parts.

Replace parts that are worn, cracked, pitted, or scored.  Replace all parts

included in the seal kit and repair kit.  The parts lists notes both the wear

items and items included in the kits.

NOTE:

Refer to the Service Notes on Figure 7 while re-assembling the air

motor.

Lower Cylinder Plate Assembly

1. Lightly grease the guide bushing (46) with O-ring grease, then press it

into the lower cylinder plate (74).  Use a rubber mallet if necessary.

2. Use retaining ring pliers to install the retaining ring (72) in the lower

cylinder plate.

3. Grease the O-ring groove in the lower cylinder plate and install the

O-ring (69) in the groove.
