Toggle Assembly Installation
1. Position the control axle (35) so that the carrier (25) is located at the
holes for the toggle bearings (19). The grooves in the carrier must face
the holes.
2. Lightly grease the spring retainers (17) and place them in the holes in
the upper housing.
3. Grease the toggle bearings (19) and toggles (18). Apply extra O-ring
lubricant to the groove of the toggle bearing to improve the hold on the
toggle.
4. Insert the toggle bearings and toggles into the spring retainers (17). The
toggles must fit into the grooves on the carrier (25). The toggle position
can be adjusted through the opening behind the cover (40).
5. Install the toggle springs (20) on the retaining screws (21). Generously
grease the springs with O-ring lubricant.
6. Screw the retaining screws and springs (20, 21) hand-tight into the lower
housing.
7. Screw each retaining screw two complete turns with a socket wrench,
then use the wrench to apply pressure to each screw until fully
tightened.
8. Adjust the position of each toggle by moving the control axle up and
down. Do this by applying compressed air to one of the holes with
exhaust ports on the side of the lower control housing while covering the
other port. Repeat using the holes without exhaust ports.
9. Install the cover (40) with the two screws and washers (42, 46).
Control Cylinder Assembly
1. Place the control piston (5) onto the control axle (35). The longer side of
the piston with the groove must face up.
2. Screw the two nuts (4) onto the control axle with two wrenches. Position
the lower nut 2-mm (0.08-in.) from the control piston, then jam the lower
nut with the upper nut.
3. Lightly grease the control piston.
4. Use retaining ring pliers to install the retaining ring in the outermost
groove on the control cylinder (11).
5. Install the four O-rings (36) in the grooves on the control cylinder.
6. Lightly grease the control cylinder.
7. Place the control housing (12) on the workbench with the side having
the least number of holes facing up.
8. Install the control cylinder into the control housing until the retaining ring
rests on the housing. Use a bench vise if necessary to press the
cylinder into the housing.
