Lower Control Housing Removal
1. Screw an M8 nut onto each of the four studs (8). Screw a second nut
onto each and tighten against the first.
2. Unscrew the four studs (8) from the lower control housing (16).
3. Remove the six screws and washers (38, 39) from the lower control
housing.
4. Remove the lower control housing from the cylinder plate (31).
5. If necessary, remove the air tubes (79, 84) from the lower control
housing.
6. If necessary, remove the check valves (81, 86), fittings (82, 85), air valve
(77) and fittings (76, 78).
7. Use retaining ring pliers to remove the retaining ring (23) from the
bottom of the lower control housing.
8. Use a 20-mm OD punch to tap out the sintered bearing (22).
Control Axle Removal
1. Remove the O-rings (26, 43) from the cylinder plate (31).
2. Remove the dampening spacer (24) from the control axle (35).
3. Pull the control axle (35) up and push the dampening spacer (44) away
from the carrier (25) to expose the wrench flats on the control axle.
4. Use two wrenches to remove the control axle from the connecting rod
(55). If the control axle cannot be turned, heat the connection to soften
the threadlock adhesive.
5. Pull the carrier (25) and dampening spacer (44) from the control axle.
Upper Cylinder Plate Removal
1. Remove the eight cap nuts, lock washers, and flat washers (47, 48, 49)
from the lower cylinder plate (74) with two wrenches.
2. Remove the six studs, flat washers, lock washers, and cap nuts (45, 47,
48, 49) from the upper cylinder plate (31).
3. Remove the two studs (45) with ring nuts (not shown).
4. Remove the upper cylinder plate from the cylinder (68).
5. Remove the O-ring (67) from the upper cylinder plate.
6. Carefully remove the lip seal (54) from the upper cylinder plate with a
small flat-bladed screwdriver.
7. Remove the washer (53).
8. Use retaining ring pliers to remove the retaining ring (52) from the
bottom of the upper cylinder plate.
9. Use a 15-mm OD punch to tap out the lower sintered bearing (51).
10. Pull the two air inlet tubes and O-rings (70, 71, 73) out of the upper and
lower cylinder plates (31, 74).
