Glossary
AC:
Alternating Current.
Active Nozzle Jetting System:
Patented technology
that improves silicone break-off from the nozzle tip.
ADS:
See
Dual Simultaneous Dispensing
.
ASPA System:
Advanced Semiconductor Package
Assembly fluid dispensing system.
Auer Boat:
A carrier used to transport multiple
workpieces through the dispensing system.
Automove Control Language (ACL):
Programming
language used for Conveyor Atom files which control
the Conveyor.
Axis:
X, Y, or Z geometric dispensing coordinates.
Board Sensors:
Optic sensors located along the length
of the conveyor rails that detect the presence of a board
or part.
Bulkhead:
Bracket attached to the Dispensing Head
that supports electrical and pneumatic connections for
Dispensing Head accessories.
Calibrated Process Jetting (CPJ):
Calibrated Process
Jetting (CPJ), also called Mass Flow Calibration (MFC)
for needle dispensing, is a patented feature that enables
the user to specify the mass to be dispensed as a
separate parameter within the dispensing elements. This
is made possible by using a high- precision scale to take
flow rate measurements.
Camera Offset:
The calibration of the XYZ location of
the Camera with respect to the dispensing needle.
CE:
The abbreviation of the French phrase "Conformité
Européene" which literally means "European
Conformity.” CE qualification indicates that a
manufacturer's electric/electronic equipment product
complies with European Union health, safety, and
environmental protection Product Directives
(standards). CE qualification means that the product can
be legally sold and freely transported within European
Union markets.
Chip:
Also called a die. A small piece of
semiconducting material (usually silicon) that contains a
discrete component or an embedded integrated circuit.
Circuit Breaker:
A switch that automatically interrupts
the electrical supply to the system when the current
exceeds the set level. Some circuit breakers can be
manually operated to turn power off and on for
servicing or maintenance purposes.
Circuit:
A combination of electrical or electronic
components, interconnected to perform one or more
specific functions.
Cleaning Agent:
A solvent or other cleaning liquid
recommended by the dispensing fluid manufacturer’s
Safety Data Sheet.
Contact Heaters:
Heater tooling for applications in
which the part being dispensed upon may need to come
into contact with the heating element or for applications
in which contact with the heating element is not an
issue.
Controlled Process Heat (CpH):
Controlled Process
Heat (CpH) software increases functional control that
eliminates operator interaction altogether: software-
managed heat levels (e.g., warm up, process ramp, cool
down, etc.) with programmable shut-off timers and
‘step-down’ or ‘no-heat’ capability when a part is not
present. CpH control improves both yield and ‘thermal
footprint’ efficiency by requiring less power.
Conveyor:
The conveyor transports the workpiece from
an upstream system to the dispensing station and then to
a downstream system.
See also Multimove Conveyor
.
Conveyor Atom:
The Conveyor Atom is an Automove
Control Language (ACL) file that contains the software
commands that control the conveyor. This file is
downloaded to the Conveyor Controller Module, located
in the rear of the system, from the Fluidmove dispensing
software.
Conveyor Belt:
A large, motor-driven o-ring or flat
belt that transports workpieces/carriers through the
dispensing chamber. There are two conveyor belts; one
for each conveyor rail.
Conveyor/Heater Module:
The Conveyor/Heater
Module controls all conveyor functions (motors,
sensors, pneumatics, etc.). It receives power from the
Power Manager and supplies AC power to the substrate
heaters in the dispensing area.
Cooling/Coaxial Air Regulator:
Controls the air
pressure supplied to either the valve cooling air port or
the DJ-2200 coaxial air assist, depending on machine
configuration.
CpK:
A measure of process capability.
Crosshairs:
Two lines intersecting at a 90
°
angle in the
center of the video display on the computer monitor.
Used to teach dispensing points to the Fluidmove
software.
Current:
The flow of electrons through an electrical
circuit. Usually measured in amperes.
DC:
Direct Current.
Die:
See Chip.
Dispense Station:
The part of the dispensing chamber
where dispensing is actually performed.
