Maintenance and Disassembly

Removing the FDD Module

The procedure for removing and replacing the FDD module is as follows.

Before removing the FDD module, first disassemble the glidepad, keyboard,
heat plate, hard disk, LCD panel, upper casing, CD-ROM module, and I/O
board. The FDD cable is also connected to the I/O board which needs to be
detached.

The FDD module is connected to the lower left side of the base unit, just on
top of the hard disk drive.

Removing the FDD Module

Remove the screw securing the upper right side of the FDD metal bracket.

Slowly lift and remove the entire FDD module from the base unit.

To replace the FDD, remove the metal bracket and mylar sheet.
