Appendix: 8G FC Switch Setting Features
To use 8G FC Switch, you should login to the console to provide proper setting for the 8G FC Switch.
The appendix describes the settings required to use the 8G FC Switch.
IMPORTANT:
„ Set the internal features of the 8G FC Switch after reading this guide carefully to be
familiar with the features.
„ Some setting change for the 8G FC Switch may have bad influences on the system
being operated. Examine changing information sufficiently before setting change.
Changing Password
After completing login to the console of the 8G FC Switch, change the password of the 8G FC Switch
according to the procedure below.
NOTE:
„ For security change the default password to new one.

Type "passwd" command on the console screen.
NOTE:
„ Any commands used on the switch console should be specified with lowercase letters.
2.
Messages such as those shown below appear. According to the messages, enter the old and new
passwords. Reenter the new password.

Enter old password:
Enter new password:
Re-type new password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully
Saving password to stable storage.
Password saved to stable storage successfully.

IMPORTANT:

The new password is made effective at the next login.
„ The password should consist of 8 - 40 alphanumeric characters.
„ Be careful not to forget the new password. If you forget, proper maintenance is
required. Contact your service representative.
