Issue 3.5
NOTE
Once these modifications to the IPA
replacement module are complete, PA#1,
PA#2 and therefore J1, J2, A5DS1 and
A5DS2 are no longer applicable with
respect to the IPA replacement module.
If an RF power module is being used as a
dual IPA in V5/V3.5 transmitters, ensure
jumper A5E1 of the module is set to the
DUAL IPA position (shorting pins 2 and 3)
(d) For single IPA V5/V3.5 transmitters,
disconnect the following connections
on the power module interface PWB:
FLOATING CONNECTION
MATE
*W1P1 (RF input cable – PA #1)
A5J8
*Wire #1 (PA Volts – PA #1)
A5TB1-1
*Wire #5 (Bias – PA #1)
A5TB2-1
*W2P1 (RF input cable – PA #2)
A5J9
*Wire #2 (PA Volts – PA #2)
A5TB1-3
*Wire #6 (Bias – PA #2)
A5TB2-3
W3P1 (RF input cable – PA #3)
A5J10
*Wire #3 (PA Volts – PA #3)
A5TB1-4
*Wire #7 (Bias – PA #3)
A5TB2-4
Coax cable on A5 (from A5-A/B)
A5J2
W4P1 (RF input cable – PA #4)
A5J11
* Tie back cables/wires and secure
(e) Reconnect the following connection on
the power module interface PWB:
FLOATING CONNECTION
MATE
Coax cable on A5 (from A5-A/B)
A5J8
W4P1 (RF input cable – PA#4)
A5J3
NOTE
Once these modifications to the IPA
replacement module are complete, PA #1,
PA #2, PA #3, and therefore J1, J2, J3,
A5DS1, A5DS2, and A5DS3 are no longer
applicable with respect to the IPA
replacement module.
(f) Install the cover removed in step (a).
5.11.3 IPA Module Installation
Install an operational IPA power module
or IPA replacement RF power module in
the transmitter as follows:
(a) Lift the operational/replacement IPA
power module into the transmitter and
onto its support tray. Ensure it is
placed properly on its guide rails.
(b) With only a slight amount of force,
push the IPA power module back into
its on-air position. Ensure that its
interface connector and RF output
connectors engage with their mating
blind-mate connectors at the rear of
the module (rear panel).
CAUTION
IPA power modules make their dc and RF
connection through blind-mate connectors
at the rear of the module. Use caution
when returning the module to its on-air
position, making sure the module remains
seated properly in the guide rails on its
support tray. Failure to do so may result in
damage to blind-mate connectors.
(c) Set the switching power supply module
turned off in step 5.11.1 (c) that applies
PA voltage to the IPA power module
replaced to
ON
(toggle up).
(d) In the
Status
screen, press the
Reset
button. For single IPA systems, verify
the
IPA/PA
lamp on the front panel’s
system diagram turns off, and all IPA
module related faults are cleared. The
IPA power module’s amber
PA VDC
lamp should be on and the transmitter
should resume operation at the desired
operating level. For dual IPA systems,
the standby IPA will be operating in
place of the main intermediate RF
drive source.
