Issue 3.5
4.3.6.3 IPA Auto Changeover Check (if
applicable)
If the transmitter has dual IPA modules (for
V10/V7.5 transmitters) or a dual PA IPA
module (for V5/V3.5 transmitters), verify an
IPA changeover is initiated when a main
(active) IPA fault occurs as follows:
NOTE
For V10/V7.5 transmitters, the IPA module
auto changeover is ganged together with
the IPA power supply auto changeover. Do
not perform step 4.3.6.4.
For V5/V3.5 transmitters, the IPA PA
changeover is independent from the IPA
power supply changeover (see 4.3.6.4).
(a) Verify there are no existing alarms on
the control display panel and that the
transmitter is operating at rated power.
(b) From the GUI’s changeover menu (see
3.6.13), set the
IPA
(or
IPA PA
)
Standby
option to
Y
(yes).
(c)
For V10/V7.5 transmitters only:
Set
the
ON/STANDBY
switch of IPA A’s
switching power supply (U1) to standby
(toggle down). A changeover to IPA
module B (and IPA PS B) will occur.
The system diagram
IPA/PA
alarm will
turn on momentarily (until the reserve
IPA’s output power exceeds the
IPA
Forward Low
threshold), the system
diagram
Changeover
alarm will turn
on, and the GUI will note the IPA
changeover alarm. The remote
interface PWB’s
CHGOV ALARM
(TB1-8),
IPA/RF Fail Alarm
(J6-3) and
PS Fail Alarm
(J6-2) outputs should be
an alarm condition (current-sink-to-
ground). The remote interface PWB’s
IPA STATUS
(TB1-16) and
IPA PS
Status
(J4-23) outputs will be a
current-sink-to-ground. Set the
ON/
STANDBY
switch of IPA A’s switching
power supply to on (toggle up). In the
GUI’s changeover menu, set IPA B as
the main IPA (see 3.6.13). The alarms
should clear.
(d)
For V10/V7.5 transmitters only:
Set
the
ON/STANDBY
switch of IPA B’s
switching power supply (U2) to standby
(toggle down). A changeover to IPA
module A (and IPA PS B) shall occur.
The system diagram
IPA/PA
alarm will
turn on momentarily, the system
diagram
Changeover
alarm will turn
on, and the GUI will note the IPA
changeover alarm. The remote
interface PWB’s
CHGOV ALARM
(TB1-8),
IPA/RF Fail Alarm
(J6-3) and
PS Fail Alarm
(J6-2) outputs should be
an alarm condition (current-sink-to-
ground). The remote interface PWB’s
IPA STATUS
(TB1-16) and
IPA PS
Status
(J4-23) outputs shall be an
open-collector. Set the
ON/STANDBY
switch of IPA B’s switching power
supply module to on (toggle up). In the
GUI’s changeover menu, set IPA A as
the main IPA (see 3.6.13). The alarms
should clear.
(e)
For V5/V3.5 transmitters only:
Temporarily short A43TP44 (IPA
Forward Power sample) to ground. A
changeover to IPA PA B will occur.
The system diagram
IPA/PA
alarm will
turn on momentarily (until the reserve
IPA’s output power exceeds the
IPA
Forward Low
threshold), the system
diagram
Changeover
alarm will turn
on, and the GUI will note the IPA
changeover alarm. The remote
interface PWB’s
CHGOV ALARM
(TB1-8) – latching – and
IPA/RF Fail
Alarm
(J6-3) – momentary – outputs
should be an alarm condition (current-
sink-to-ground). The remote interface
PWB’s
IPA STATUS
(TB1-16) output
will be a current-sink-to-ground. In the
GUI’s changeover menu, set IPA PA B
as the main IPA (see 3.6.13). The
alarms should clear.
