Testing an Autosound Switching System
1.
Hook up one Head Unit (tape deck, CD player, etc.) making power trigger connections and
signal connections to the correct Component Connection Terminal. (See Component
Installation, pages 77-78, for recommended procedures and options.) If any of the Head
Units have High Level output, use one of them for this first step and skip ahead to step 3.
2.
If all your Head Units are low level output only, hook up an Amplifier that will supply a
front signal, connecting power and signal wires/cables to the correct Component
Connection Terminal.
3.
Hook up one set of front speakers. (See Component Installation, pages 77-78, for
recommended procedures and options.)
4.
Select the Head Unit (and the Amplifier, if used) and the Speakers by pressing their
component selection numbers and Chain buttons on the MVP Control Panel. Test right and
left channels by adjusting balance controls on the Head Unit.
5.
Now hook up a pair of rear speakers and, if necessary, another Amplifier and/or Processor
to supply Rear signals. Test right and left channels.
6.
If your Display contains other types of Speaker Chains, hook up one of each type (with any
necessary Amps and/or Processors) and test as in step 4.
7.
Now, hook up and test, one at a time,
one component each
for every Chain in your Display,
to assure that all signal buses are correctly hooked up. Correct any problems before moving
on to the next step.
8.
Now, go back and hook up and test all speakers one (pair) at a time, Chain by Chain. Use
the same head unit to test each speaker (pair). Hook up all the Speakers in a Chain (all
Front Speakers, for example) before moving on to the next Chain.
From this point, you will
always be testing new components with components that you already know are connected
properly and working.
9.
Next, hook up a second Head Unit and test. Continue hooking up and testing all Head
Units. If there is more than one Chain of Head Units, finish each Chain before moving on.
You only need to test them with one set of speakers (front, rear, sub, and tweeters, for
example) since you already know all the speakers work.
10.
Now, if your system contains Amplifiers, install them, one at a time, Chain by Chain. Test
them with one Head Unit and one set of speaker pairs (front, rear, sub, etc.). Finish hooking
up and testing one Amplifier Chain before you start working on another.
11.
If your Switching System contains Processors (EQ Amplifiers, Crossovers, etc.) hook them
up and test, one at a time, as in step 8.
12.
And now that everything works perfectly,
open your doors and start selling!
