5.b Installing the MVP Sound Pressure Meter
The MVP Sound Pressure Meter can be used as a stand-alone sales tool in any audio
demonstration area. However it was designed specifically to provide Sound Pressure
information for Speaker Equalizers. A single MVP Sound Pressure Meter may be used
with any number of Speaker Equalizers.
The MVP-SP is equipped with a microphone from MTi. We strongly recommend that you
use the supplied microphone, since the unit has been calibrated to operate with the
response of that particular microphone. We cannot assure you of correct information from
your MVP-SP if you use a different microphone.
Placement of the microphone in the audio demonstration area is very important. The
microphone should be suspended as close as possible to the center of the optimum
listening area, equidistant from the associated left and right Speakers, and about a foot
above normal head height (approx. 7 ft.). The microphone itself should be suspended by
its cord and the shaft should not be touching anything. Precaution should be taken to
position the microphone away from heating or air conditioning ducts as the sound from
these will affect the Sound Pressure Meter’s performance.
Follow the diagram on the next page for connections between the MVP-SP and
Speaker Equalizers.
5.c Installing the MVP Speaker Equalizer
Each MVP Speaker Equalizer will equalize the audio signals for one Chain of Speakers,
so you need a separate MVP-SE for each Speaker Chain you want equalized. Any
quantity of SEs, however, can receive their information from one MVP-SP. If there are
several SEs, the SP output is connected in parallel from SE to SE. (A complete
description of the operation of the SE and SP may be found on pages 118-120.)
Installing the Audio MVP Control Module
The Audio MVP Control Module is installed in the Low Level Audio Bus prior to the signal
reaching a Processor or Amplifier Chain. It is connected into the Bus with RCA connectors,
the Inputs (L and R) being at the lower side of the ACM and the Outputs at the top. On the
left side of the ACM are two plugs, one for the supplied 16v AC Power Supply, and the other
for the output of the SE MVP Control Panel Module. After installation, the ACM operates with
no adjustment necessary.
