Installation

For larger MVP configurations with more than four Modules, (MVP Control Modules, Dual Chain
Modules or Feature Modules) 3 amp and larger power supplies are available. The 3 amp power supply
will power up to eight MVP Modules and the larger 7 amp power supply will power the largest fully-
configured MVP Control Panel. These power supplies plug into any standard 110v AC outlet.
The 1.2 amp unit may be wall-mounted; the larger units should be floor or shelf-mounted. Once the
Power Supply is in place, simply run its output cable to the four-pin connector
located near the lower left
corner of the rear side of the MVP Control Module (see Figure 7, page 22).
Do not connect or turn on Power until MVP Control Panel is completely installed.
7. Connect the MVP Control Panel to the Switching Modules
Each Dual Chain Module has two connectors for attaching the Switching Module Control Cables – one
for each Chain the Module supports (CH0 – upper and CH1 – lower). Each Watt Meter has only one.
(See pages 70-72 for Feature Module connections.) If the Control Cables supplied with your Switching
Module are not long enough, call MTi. We manufacture these cables in many different lengths to reach
from your MVP Control Panel to your Switching Module Chains.
Attach the Multi-Conductor Control Cable that extends from the first Switching Module (-1) of each
Chain to the (CH0 or CH1) Switching Module Connector on the rear of its associated Dual Chain Module
or Watt Meter.
At this point, all the connections in your Switching System should have been made except those which
relate to connecting components. Before you hook up power, examine all the connections between MVP
Control Panel Modules and Switching Modules. Make sure MTA cable ends cover all the pins on their
connectors. Damage to components or Switching System parts could result if these connectors are
improperly seated.
8. Test MVP Control Panel and Logic Connections
Plug the MVP Control Panel Power Supply into the wall at this time, and turn it on. This will power up
the System, and you can now determine that the Power and Logic connections you have made are
correct. If you haven’t yet done so, you may want to read ahead to the Operation Section so that you
fully understand the basics of operation of the MVP Control Panel.
8.1 To test the MVP Control Panel, enter numbers and select each of the Chains to confirm
proper transfer of information and functioning of the LED displays.
8.2 Now enter and select Position numbers for each Chain to activate each Switching
Module in the Chain, and check to see that the LEDs (located on the upper left-hand
corner of each Switching Module) light up. For example, if your Front Speaker Chain
includes three Switching Modules, be sure to enter position numbers that will activate
each one (e.g., 3, 9, 18). LEDs should light up on the correct Module. This will confirm
that the Control Cables are connected properly, and that the DIP switches on the
Switching Modules are set correctly. Correct any problems before going to the next
step.
