Do not use the stereo mini input and
quarter-inch inputs at the same time. If
you are using the mini jack, unplug the
quarter-inch jacks. If you are using the
quarter-inch jacks, unplug the mini jack.
Further settings for the line inputs, such
as stereo pairing and pan settings for
mid/side micing are available in the
CueMix FX software. See “Input settings”
on page 20.
Trim
The mic and guitar inputs are equipped
with 51 dB and 32 dB (respectively) of
digitally controlled analog trim (boost).
The line inputs can also be trimmed.
Adjust the trim level for the mic input
using the MIC knob. Other inputs can be
trimmed using the MicroBook’s CueMix
FX software. See “Input settings” on
page 20.
Main outs
In a standard studio configuration, the
main outs (Figure 4-3) are intended for a
pair of studio monitors, but they can also
be used as outputs for any purpose. The
quarter-inch main outs are calibrated to
produce a +4 dBu line level output signal.
Line out
You can use the eighth-inch stereo mini
line out jack for output to desktop
speakers or any other line level
destination.
Digital out
The S/PDIF RCA “digital out” connector
provides stereo digital audio output to
another device: the S/PDIF output always
mirrors the Main Outs.
Tips for connecting other devices
Follow these simple guidelines to
minimize noise that may be produced by
other devices connected to the
MicroBook:
■
Use balanced TRS quarter-inch cables
whenever possible. Balanced connections
greatly reduce noise resulting from
electrical interference.
■
Use the MicroBook’s balanced quarter-
inch connectors instead of the eighth-
inch stereo “mini” connectors whenever
possible.
■
Don’t make unbalanced audio
connections between the MicroBook and
a FireWire or USB device while the other
device is connected to any computer, as
this could significantly reduce the audio
quality performance of the MicroBook.
