ENGINE OIL
CHECKING AND TOPPING UP
WARNING
Check engine oil level when the engine is hot.
Letting the engine idle with the vehicle at standstill is not the correct procedure to warm engine and engine
oil up to operating temperature for an oil check. Oil is best checked after taking a short ride; 15 Km (10 mi) will be
enough.
Stop the engine.
Keep the vehicle upright with both wheels on the ground.
Unscrew and remove the rod (1).
Check oil level using the dipstick (1), but do not tighten the dipstick.
Level is correct when it is near the
MAX
mark.
MAX
= maximum level
MIN
= minimum level.
If necessary, top up engine oil level as follows:
•
Unscrew and remove the rod (1).
•
Top up with engine oil, see 2.1.3 (LUBRICANT TABLE) until bringing level above the minimum mark MIN.
WARNING
Do not put additives or other substances into the fluid.
If you use a funnel or other tool, ensure it is perfectly clean.
