REAR BRAKE
CHECK
•
Keep the vehicle upright so that the fluid in the reservoir (6) is level with the plug (5).
•
Make sure that the fluid in the reservoir is above the "
MIN
" level mark.
MAX
= maximum level
MIN
= minimum level.
If the fluid is below the "
MIN
" mark:
WARNING
Brake fluid level decreases as the brake pads wear down.
•
Check brake pads and brake disc for wear.
If the pads and/or the disc do not need replacing, top up to correct level.
TOPPING UP
WARNING
Danger: brake fluid could leak out. Do not operate the rear brake lever with the brake fluid reservoir
plug (5) removed.
DANGER
Avoid long exposure of brake fluid to air.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the air.
Keep the brake fluid reservoir (6) open JUST LONG ENOUGH to top up level.
•
Unscrew and remove the plug (5) complete with gasket (7).
WARNING
Ensure that the fluid level is parallel with reservoir edge (6) (in a horizontal position) during top-up to
avoid spillage.
Do not put additives or other substances into the fluid.
If you use a funnel or other tool, ensure it is perfectly clean.
•
Top up reservoir (6) with brake fluid, see 2.1.3 (LUBRICANT TABLE) until bringing level above the minimum
mark
MIN
.
WARNING
Do not turn the reservoir (6) upside down even when the plug (5) is in place. This may cause air to
enter into the circuit, leading to brake malfunction.
