EASSEMBLY OF THE TOOTHED WHEEL AND MEASURING OF THE AIR GAP
• Position the toothed wheel “A” with the milled toothing
“B” on the opposite side to the timing sensor one “C”;
• Insert a feeler gauge between the timing sensor
terminal and the toothed wheelʼs toothed surface, to
make sure the air gap is between 0.7 and 0.9 mm.
To determine the air gap when the engine is fitted,
proceed as follows:
• Using a gauge, measure the distance between the
striking point on the crankcase “D” and the tooth
surface on the flywheel “E”;
• Measure the value between the end “F” of the sensor
and the sensorʼs striker plate “G”. The difference
between the two measured values gives the actual
air-gap. If necessary, increase the thickness of the
sensorʼs striking point, following the instructions
described in chapter 16, section I.
