ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE
The alternate static air source should be used whenever it is suspected that the normal static air
sources are blocked. Selecting the alternate static source changes the source of static air for the
altimeter, air speed indicator and rate-of-climb from outside of the aircraft to the cabin interior.
When
alternate
static
source
is
in
use,
adjust
indicated
airspeed
and
altimeter
readings
accord-
ing
to
the
appropriate
alternate
static
source
airspeed
and
altimeter
calibration
tables
in
The
alternate
static
air
source
valve
is
located
on
the
LH
side
of
instrument
panel
above
ignition
switch.
When
the
alternate
static
system
source
is
first
opened,
there
will
be
an
immedi-
ate
change
to
VS
and
ALT
indications.
The
amount
of
indicated
change
will
vary
based
on
the
current
airspeed.
The
ALT
indication
will
change
to
calibrated
levels
after
the
pressure
stabilizes.

to
Section
V
for
correction
charts.)
The
autopilot
will
react
to
these
changes
if
it
is
engaged
in
ALT
HOLD
mode.
