2.1.18.

Windshield Mounting Adapters

The AWS-4000 mounting adapter holds the Vision Sensor Unit (VSU). It
is selected according to the windshield angle. Different windshield
mounting adapters are required to provide for different windshield
angles that are found in different vehicle models. The windshield angle
is measured from the plane parallel to the ground.

The  mount  is  selected  such  that  the  camera  is  tilted  about  5  degrees
down,  depending  on  the  height  at  which  the  camera  is  mounted,  and
such  that  LDW  is  provided  with  images  from  a  distance  of  about  4-6
meters in front of the vehicle.

Be  sure  to  measure  the  designated  vehicle  windshield  vertical  angle
ahead  of  time  (on  the  approximate  location  that  the  vision  sensor  will
be mounted, since windshield angles are often curved), on a flat surface
with  no  side  or  forward  slope.  An  appropriate  windshield  angle
measurement  tool,  such  as  provided  with  the  AWS-4000  installation
tools, should be used.

NOTE

:

The following Table (1-5) specifies the recommended windshield

mount to be used for different combinations of windshield angle and
camera heights. It does not guaranty to specify the most suitable
windshield mount for each particular vehicle. The most suitable windshield
mount should be chosen only after examining that the image produced by
the VSU once attached to the windshield is the correct image. An example
of a correct image can be found in the appendix (section D)
