5-9 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR SUPERCOOL FREEZING OPERATION
Symptom/Problem
Possible cause
Explanation to the customer/Solution
1
Supercool freezing does not keep foods fresh.
Supercool freezing does not work.
Improper supercool freezing operation
• The amount of drip from meat and/or
fi
sh is same as before.
• Meat is dried out.
• Potatoes become
fl
oury.
• Vegetables lose their crispy texture.
• Bamboo shoots are sinewy.
• Rice is not tasty.
• The versa compartment is not set to the
soft freezing mode.
• Supercool freezing button is not pressed.
• Food was added to the compartment in the
middle of the supercool freezing mode.
• Food is wrapped in aluminum foil or paper.
• A separate item of food is on the top of the
food for supercool freezing and preventing
even supercool freezing.
• Food that had thawed out once was refro-
zen.
• Food is old or expired.
• Hot food and cold food are put in the
compartment at the same time.
• Set the versa compartment to the soft
freezing mode. (Supercool freezing is only
available in the soft freezing mode.)
• Be sure to press the supercool freezing
button.
• Food that was added to the compartment
in the middle of the supercool freezing
mode may not be frozen.
• The temperature of wrapped food is difficult to
be detected by the supercool freezing sensor.
• Refrozen food and old food may not
besupercool-freezed occasionally.
• As the cooling of hot food takes prece-
dence over that of cold food, the cold food
may not be supercooled occasionally.
2
Food does not freeze after one night.
Check the settings of the versa compartment.
Yoghurt does not freeze.
Meat and
fi
sh do not freeze.
Fresh jam does not freeze.
• The versa compartment is not set to the
soft freezing mode.
• The compartment is set to “Low.”
• The compartment doors are opened and
closed frequently.
• The coagulating temperature of the food is low.
(e.g. processed food, such as soybean paste)
• Set the versa compartment to the soft
freezing mode.
• Set the compartment to “High.”
• Open and close the compartment doors
as infrequently as possible during the
supercool freezing mode. Since this
function freezes the food at a slow speed,
it takes a long time to complete freezing.
• Food with a low coagulating temperature
may not freeze in the soft freezing mode.
3
Food and drink freeze hard. (They are not maintained in the supercooled state.)
Water in a plastic bottle freezes hard.
Drinks freeze hard.
• The user did not check the food and drink
right after the
indicator on the
display goes out.
• Supercool freezing is a function which releases
the object from the supercooling state and freezes
it into the fine particles. When the supercool
freezing indicator goes out, supercooling is over.
• It is dif
fi
cult to make supercooled water in the
refrigerator. (It does not always work well.)
4 When the food is frozen, the state of food looks same as that frozen in the normal freezer. Check the settings of the versa compartment.
Icicles form on the surface.
There is some frost.
• The versa compartment is not set to the
soft mode.
• The food is stored for a long time.
• The compartment doors are opened and
closed frequently.
• Set the versa compartment to the soft
freezing mode.
• The longer the food is stored, the more
frost forms.
• Frequent door opening changes tempera-
ture inside the refrigerator. That causes
frost formation.
5 Food in the versa compartment melts.
Check the settings of the versa compartment.
• The food is in contact with hot food.
• The “supercool freezing” button was
not pressed when hot food is put in the
compartment.
• Food with temperature that is more than
80 is in the compartment.
• The doors are not closed completely.
Supercool freezing is not available in the following operation
For 4 hours after the power is turned on
• Cooling for the whole refrigerator has priority over the supercool freezing mode.
When the temperatures in the other compartments rise to higher than a certain degree
• Cooling for the other compartments has priority over the supercool freezing mode.
When the temperature of the versa compartment is out of the speci
fi
ed temperature range for soft freezing
• Right after switching from other than soft freezing mode
(The instruction manual mentions that supercool freezing should be started about 2 hours after switching to soft freezing.)
