Relationship between water content and fuel humidity
The amount of water in fuels is given as either water content or fuel humidity. The water content
(in %) refers to the moisture content of the fuel or the fresh matter (LSD) and the moisture
content of the fuel to the completely dry matter (SS).
Example:
If 100 kg of fuel contains 50 kg of water, the water content is 50% (w50) and the fuel humidity
is 100% (u=100).
Determination of fuel requirements
From the calorific value and the required rated thermal output you can calculate the fuel
requirement. Important factors influencing this parameter are the water content of the fuel and
the efficiency of the installation.
1.4.2 Basic information on the combustion of wood chips to produce heat.
What's woodchips?
The raw material for wood chips comes from 100 percent natural forest and plantation wood.
This raw material has the form of trunks or branches. The chips are produced using fast cutting
tools as defined in EN ISO 17225-4.
