Child restraint systems on the front-
passenger seat
Notes on a child restraint system on the co-
driver seat
Accident statistics show that children secured on
the rear seats are safer than children secured on
the front seats. For this reason, Mercedes-Benz
strongly advises that you install a child restraint
system on a rear seat.
Notes on rearward-facing child restraint sys‐
tems
The co-driver's front airbag cannot be deactiva‐
ted. Always install a rearward-facing child
restraint system on a suitable rear seat, but never
on the co-driver's seat. Observe the manufactur‐
er's installation and operating instructions for the
child restraint system used.
Notes on forward-facing child restraint sys‐
tems on the co-driver's seat
When using the child restraint system on the co-
driver's seat, you must observe the following
points:
R
Set the co-driver's seat to its rearmost posi‐
tion. If on a seat with seat height adjustment,
also set the seat to its highest position.
R
Set the seat backrest to an almost vertical
position.
R
Retract the seat cushion length completely.
R
The base of the child restraint system must
lie fully on the co-driver's seat cushion.
R
The backrest of a forward-facing child
restraint system must, as far as possible, lie
flat against the backrest of the co-driver's
seat. The child restraint system must not
touch the roof or be put under strain by the
head restraints.
R
If necessary, adjust the angle of the seat
backrest and the position of the head
restraints accordingly.
R
Set the seat cushion angle in such a way that
the front edge of the seat cushion is in the
highest position and the rear edge of the seat
cushion is in the lowest position.
R
Always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
is correctly routed from the seat belt outlet of
the vehicle to the shoulder belt guide on the
child restraint system. The shoulder belt strap
must be routed forwards and downwards
from the seat belt outlet.
