Body
Introduction to CITAN, Model Series 415
l
For corrosion protection on the Citan, only fully galva-
nized sheet metal as well as cathodic dip painting
(KTL) are used. Here, the body is first assembled and
then fully immersed. If any issues are found during
corrosion tests of detachable parts, Mercedes-Benz
optimizes the process in question. As a result, a
special second coating of protection is added to some
parts of the Citan only e.g. on the rear axle springs in
order to improve protection from stone chipping.
Furthermore, plastic wheel well panels are installed as
standard on the front and rear of all vehicle variants to
improve both corrosion protection and noise charac-
teristics.
All cavities are also coated with wax in addition to their
cavity preservation. Continuous plastic sealing strips
around the doors and a PVC seam seal also provide
corrosion protection.
Paintwork
The range of paints for the Citan includes 6 metallic
paints (SA) and 6 standard finishes (standard), some
of which are available exclusively for Mercedes-Benz.
Special paintwork is also available upon request.
With the SA code "Detachable parts painted in the
vehicle color", many components with unpainted,
grained plastic surfaces can be painted in the vehicle
color as a package.
These are:
• Bumpers
• Outside mirrors
• Panel above taillamps
• Cover for sliding door rail protection (only for A2 as
