Introduction to CITAN, Model Series 415
l
A holistic safety concept is implemented on the new
Citan, as with all other Mercedes-Benz model series. It
is divided into 4 phases:
•
Safe driving
- avoiding hazards, warning early and
assisting the driver
•
In the event of danger
- prevention and early
activation of protective measures
•
In an accident
- protection according to
requirements
•
After an accident
- minimizing consequences and
enabling rapid assistance
In the event of danger
The center high-mounted brake lamp indicates to
following traffic that the Citan is performing a braking
maneuver. It is located above the rear window in the
center on vehicles with liftgate. On vehicles with rear-
end doors, it is located on the left-hand rear-end door
offset slightly above the rear window. This provides
additional warning to following traffic in the event of
emergency braking.
In an accident
In the event of a crash, the restraint systems and
numerous airbag variants provide important additional
safety for occupants. Many of these systems are part
of the standard equipment of the Citan.
After an accident
If the Citan needs to be towed after an accident or in
the event of a breakdown, there are towing lugs
behind caps in the front and rear bumpers. The two
following functions also directly improve the safety of
the vehicle if involved in an accident:
• Automatic activation of the hazard warning system
• Automatic shutoff of engine (shutoff of injection
pump)
