A
loading dose
is a specified volume (or dose) of drug infused as a one-time-only bolus prior to the start of normal
delivery. You may also configure loading dose to be automatically “prompted” or called up in the programming
steps.
Enable /
Disable
Loading Dose
You can permanently enable / disable the
Loading Dose option
through custom pump
configuration.
Setting a Loading Dose
1.
When paused, pressed the O
PTIONS
menu button to find the loading dose feature.

Use the number buttons to call the E
NTER

OADING
D
OSE
screen.
Disable
– turns loading dose OFF.
Clear
– deletes an entry.
Backspace
– erases a character.

At the E
NTER
L
OADING
D
OSE
screen, set the loading dose volume. Here, volume is limited to the maximum
fill volume for the current syringe size, and minimum volume is 1/600th of syringe size.
4.
When ready, press the
Enter
button to accept the volume setting (or dose setting if in body weight or mass
mode).
5.
Use the
number
buttons to set delivery time in minutes & seconds. The default value for loading (i.e.
bolus) delivery rate is set in custom configuration. Maximum & minimum time is calculated from the
maximum & minimum rate for the syringe size you are currently using.
6.
After the loading dose is set and accepted, the pump pauses at the B
EGIN
I
NFUSION
screen. The Loading
Dose setting now appears onscreen.
