Practical advice relating to the use of the power wheelchair.
Before you start to freely use the power wheelchair find an open area where you
can practice all the manoeuvres and where you can get acquainted with the
operating system of the power wheelchair.
It is best to use the assistance of another person who will aid and assist you till you
gain total confidence and freed of movement when driving the power wheelchair.
Before you get in always make sure that the vehicle is set off and that the speed
setting is set on the value chosen according to your experience and skills.
When using the power wheelchair for the first time set the speed to the minimum
value so as to safely practice the operation and to get acquainted with its
possibilities.
In order to drive safely, make sure that you are familiar with
vehicle characteristics and ways of driving.
First, practice moving forward. Make sure that the speed is set
on the slowest position.
When you master moving forward in a straight line,
practice “S” turns.
Finally, practice driving
backwards.
