Troubleshooting for Special
Applications
This c
hapter describes the common problems encountered in special
applications and cable wiring for the network administrator to locate the
problems.
Application of the Local Switch
Interface Interconnection
If a use
r needs to connect two switching interfaces of a device to perform
L3 communication, for example, to connect VLAN2 interface and VLAN3
interface to perform L3 communication, the packets sent from VLAN2
interface should be received by VLAN3 interface, in this case, pay attention
to the following restrictions:
1.
When the local port encounters a loopback, note the configuration of
MSTP to avoid congestion of the port in the communication VLAN.
2.
By default, all switching interfaces of a device use the same MAC
address. Therefore, the source and destination MAC addresses that
transmit the packets are the same local MAC address. The switching
chip will discard the packets. Configure different MAC addresses for
the switching interfaces through the mac-address command in the
interface to ensure the L3 communication in the two interconnected
switching interfaces.
