When the BGP receives the exceptional packets, the corresponding error
ID and sub-error ID are displayed. For example, in the previous second
instance, the switch receives a notification message with the error ID of 2.
The message is the error information of the open message. The sub-code
is 2, which indicates that the AS number is incorrect. The debugging
prompt of the BGP is in detail and complete. You can view the error code
and locate the problem through debugging. Only two simple examples are
provided.
IS-IS Troubleshooting
Basic Idea of ISIS Troubleshooting
Step 1: Collect the detailed network topology information. The dynamic
routing protocol is running between the route switching devices. After the
fault occurs, you should locate the fault, for example, which routes or
neighbors are of lack in the routing switching table.
Step 2: Check whether the routing devices are connected. ISIS is different
from other dynamic routing protocols. It is running on the link layer
protocol and independent from the IPv4, IPv6, and OSI protocol stack
network layer. Route switching devices mutually exchange route protocol
packets, the link layer must be connected.
Step 3: Locate the faulty routing switching device. On the routing
switching device, use the show tool to check the relevant information, for
example, ISIS interface table and neighbor table.
Step 4: Through the collected information, you can generally locate the
fault. Then, use the debug tool provided by the system to analyze the
packet interaction to find out the cause of the fault.
Tools for Removing ISIS Faults
Maipu switch provides many tools for finding ISIS faults. The show tools
and the debug tools are as follows.
S h o w T o o l s
show isis: Check the configuration of the ISIS, including interface running
topology, GR, NET address, and route
maximum
.
show isis database: Check
the
ISIS database information including
level-1, level-2, self, and detail.
