Initial Circuit Pack Installation

Description

This section provides instructions for installing, BUT NOT fully 
seating, circuit packs into the Metropolis

® 

DMXtend shelf. After circuit 

packs have been unpacked, they may be placed in their respective slots 
in the Metropolis

® 

DMXtend shelf but NOT FULLY ENGAGED IN 

THE BACKPLANE CONNECTOR. The circuit packs will be fully 
installed (seated) in the section, Circuit Pack Installation (page 3-4).

Important!

If office alarms are connected, it is advisable to 

disconnect the office alarm cable while performing the procedures 
in this section to prevent spurious alarms from being reported. 
Reconnect the office alarm cable after completion of all testing.

CAUTION

177D or LNW98 Apparatus Blanks are required in all 
unequipped D and G Function Unit slots to provide proper air 
flow for cooling.

LNW42 or LNW95 (R1.1) Apparatus Blanks are required in all 
unequipped Main slots to provide proper air flow for cooling.

LNW43 or LNW96 (R1.1) Apparatus Blanks are required in all 
unequipped A/B slots to provide proper air flow for cooling.

CAUTION

To protect against damage due to electrostatic discharge, a 
properly grounded ESD wrist strap must be worn when handling 
equipment.

LNW1 (SYSCTL)

Installation

Follow this procedure to install the LNW1 (SYSCTL) circuit pack into 
the Metropolis

® 

DMXtend shelf.

Step 1

Remove the SYSCTL circuit pack from the packing material.
