Appendix A:
Meter Configuration
Options
Following is a list of workstation options pertaining to
the meter. The default settings for a stand-alone meter
are shown. For meters configured by a workstation, all
meters assigned to a location receive the same settings.
Patient Results
Configuration Option
Meaning
Glucose units

The units for displaying and
reporting control and blood
glucose results.
Patient comment
messages
Comments that appear at the
patient result screen. The
comments allow you to record a
particular situation with a result.
Patient critical warning
messages
Critical limits:
Lower: 0 mg/dL
Upper: 500 mg/dL
Comments that appear at the
patient result screen when the
result falls outside the critical
limits. The comments offer
suggestions for high/low results.
Upper and lower limits of the
range for patient results as defined
by your institution.

Require message
entry for patient
tests outside the
critical limits
If a patient test result falls
outside the critical limits, you
may be required to select a
comment that corresponds to the
patient’s current situation.
