Recovering from a BIOS update failure
If the power to your server is interrupted while the BIOS is being updated, your server might not restart
correctly. If this happens, perform the following procedure to recover from the BIOS update failure. This
procedure is commonly called boot-block recovery.
1. Go to http://www.lenovo.com/drivers and follow the instructions on the Web page to download a
BIOS update package.
2. Prepare a USB key and format the USB key with the FAT or FAT32 file system. Then, put the
IMAGEFA.cap and IMAGE9H.ROM files contained in the BIOS update package into the root directory of
a USB key.
3. Connect the USB key to your server.
4. Turn on your server. The recovery process starts. After the recovery process completes, your server will
turn off automatically.
5. Turn on your server. The BIOS settings recover to the factory default settings. Check and configure the
BIOS settings for your specific needs.
