Clutch Removal
Refer to Figure 7-10:
1.
Chock wheels to secure mower and prevent
movement while repairs are made.
2.
Disconnect battery to prevent accidental shock. See
“Battery Assembly Removal” on page 22.
3.
Raise and secure the rear of the unit for ease of
access to the clutch assembly.
4.
Disconnect the clutch harness pig tale from the
engine wiring harness.

5.
To prevent accidental start, unplug the coil wires on
both spark plugs prior to removing the belt.
6.
Remove the floor panel to access the over center
latch. See ““Floor Panel Removal” on page 15.
7.
Loosen deck belt tension by pulling the securing pin
on the over center latch assembly and rotate counter
clockwise to disengage the latch. Remove belt from
the clutch.

Loosen and remove the clutch retaining bolt.
9.
Pull down on the clutch and with a rubber mallet tap
the clutch lightly on the sides to loosen it from the
engine output shaft. Remove clutch.
NOTE: Care should be taken when removing the
clutch retaining bolt to prevent damage to the
threads on the engine output shaft.
