Windows Configuration 5-19
If the 2000E already has an IP address, the Bootp Lite utility will not work. The new
IP address should be assigned by connecting to the existing IP address with a web
browser (Chapter 3) or with Telnet (Chapter 8) or, if running IPX, by configuring with
MAP (Chapter 3).
The EcoLAN 2000E must be on the same network segment as the workstation that is
being used to configure it. The TCP/IP stack must be installed and operating on the
workstation. The BOOTP Lite program will not work in a Windows PC operating as a
DHCP Server.
Using the Bootp Lite Utility
There are two versions of the Bootp Lite utility, BOOTPLT.EXE and NTBOOTP.EXE.
Which version to use depends upon the particular TCP/IP protocol stack in use. The
BOOTPL.EXE utility will work with a 16 bit TCP/IP stack (FTP, NetManage, B&W,
or Windows for Workgroups 3.11). The NTBOOTP.EXE utility will work with a 32
bit TCP/IP stack (Windows 95 and Windows NT).
These utilities may be copied to your hard disk and run from there or they may be run
directly from the CD that is packaged with the 2000E as described in the following
directions.
1.
Launch the utility. In the following directions, the CD ROM drive letter is
assumed to be D. Please substitute the appropriate letter if necessary for your
system.
•
Windows for Workgroups 3.11 (or other 16 bit TCP/IP stacks), from Program
Manager under File, select Run, and type: D:\MAP\BOOTPLT.EXE.
•
Windows NT 3.51, from Program Manager under File, select Run, and type:
D:\MAP\NTBOOTP.EXE.
•
Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, click on the Start button, select Run, and
type: D:\MAP\NTBOOTP.EXE.
2.
Select Configure from the Admin menu.
3.
Enter the IP parameters.
•
Enter the IP address to assign to the 2000E
•
Enter the Subnet mask. If unsure of the correct Subnet mask and the first
number in the 2000E IP address is from 192 to 254, then use 255.255.255.0 as
the Subnet mask.
•
Enter the Default Gateway address (the router’s IP address) or leave blank.
