Note

If this is the first time you are running the software, you will need to set up an FM90i
shortcut and add the FM90i control to the

Operation

menu in the FX software.

In the

Setup

menu, select the

Installation

button, then select

Programs

. Check the

Auto

Start FM90i

box, then browse for the

Program

and

Working Directory

locations of

the FM90i software on your hard drive.

In the

Setup

menu, select the

Data/Power/Mux Port Setup

button. Select the port where

the sonar is installed (

Sonar Port

in a factory-default system). Select

FM90i

from the

Primary Device

drop-down list. Close the dialog boxes.

In the

Operation

menu, select the

FM90i

pane to open the FM90i software.

Important

Do not open the FM90i software independently of the FX software. If you do not
launch the FM90i software by clicking on this pane in the FX software, then the
FX system will not be able to communicate with the FM90i.

If you use only one display, the sonar presentation will now fill the screen. Switch
between the FM90i and FX software in the Windows taskbar. If you have two
displays, use the operating system functionality to move one of the programs to
the other display.

Start the FM90i Sonar Head in the FM90i software.

Refer to the procedure

Starting operation of the Sonar Head

for details.

The FM90i software will continuously monitor the modem status and data rate
from the FX software.

If the connection with the Surface Telemetry Unit is interrupted, a

Modem Status

dialog box will appear showing "No Subsea Link".

When communication with the Surface Telemetry Unit is restored, the

Modem

Status

dialog box will show "Establishing Link".
