7 On the Surface Telemetry Unit, use the cable selector switch (E) to select the cable
connector you are using.
Note
If you have the test cable connected, select
TEST
.
8 Press the
ON
button (K) on the Surface Telemetry Unit to turn on the cable power.
Note
This button will not work if the
PWR
button LED (A) is flashing. If you have just turned
on the Surface Telemetry Unit, wait for the
PWR
button LED to turn solid blue.
9 Observe that the
ON
LED (K) turns solid green. Wait for the
LINK
LED (H) to flash
slowly, then quickly, then turn solid. When lit continuously, the
LINK
LED indicates that
a communication link is established between the FM90iand the Surface Telemetry Unit.
10 At the bottom of the FX presentation, verify that the FM90i is connected.
Make sure the
Connection
status indicator (circular icon) is green.
If you want more information, select the
Connection
status indicator to open the
Connection
page in the
Status
dialog box.
The current connection speed between the Surface Telemetry Unit and the FM90i is
shown on this page. The speed depends on the length and quality of the netsounder
(third-wire) cable.
Note
The
Data/Power/Mux
and
STU
status indicators should also be green. If not, you can
also select these indicators to view their current status.
11 If applicable, start the video feed.
Refer to the FX Reference Manual for details.
12 Launch the FM90i software from the FX program.
