Foreign material (sand) may have been injected with

water. Unusual infections with microaerophilic

organisms occurring at lower temperatures have been

reported, such as gram negative pathogens as are

found in sewage. Bacterial swabs and blood cultures

may therefore be helpful. This injury must be treated
as an acute surgical emergency and be evaluated by a
qualified surgeon. Circulation may be compromised,

therefore, DO NOT APPLY HEAT TO INJURED
