Installation

Introduction

This chapter provides information for installing the Keysight E1412A Multimeter,
including:

–

initial inspection

–

preparation for use

–

environment

–

shipping

Initial Inspection

Inspect the shipping container for damage. If the shipping container or
cushioning material is damaged, keep the container until the shipment contents
have been checked and the instrument has been checked mechanically and
electrically. See Chapter 4 for procedures to check electrical performance.

If the contents are incomplete, if there is mechanical damage or defect, or if the
instrument does not pass the electrical performance tests, notify your nearest
Keysight Technologies Sales and Service Office. If the shipping container is
damaged or the cushioning material shows signs of stress, notify the carrier as
well as Keysight, and keep the shipping materials for the carrier’s inspection.

To avoid possible hazardous electrical shock, do not

perform electrical tests if there are signs of shipping

damage to any portion of the outer enclosure (covers,

panels, etc.).
